Andaman and Nicobar

Both are classified in Indian union territory, with port Blair as administrative capital. This union territory stretches over a length of more than 700Km around north to south with 26 inhabited islands and more than 80 un-habited islands.

People and Culture

In these islands people of all faiths Hindu, Muslim, Christians, Sikhs, etc., and of all languages like Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam, Telugu, Bengali, Tamil, Punjabi, English, Nicobari, etc., live together in complete peace and harmony. Inter religion and inter regional marriages are common. This amazing racial and cultural mix is aptly described as Mini India.

Physical Features

Forests are the green gold of this islands. The reserved and protected forests extend over 86% area of the territory. About 50% of the forest has been set aside as tribal reserves, national parks and wild life sanctuaries. These islands exports logs and timber to so many countries.

Marine Life

The surrounding seas are equally rich in marine bio diversity. Among vertebrates dugong, dolphins and whale are common. Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park is rich in corals, varieties of colorful fishes, sea turtles etc., besides other marine life.

Andaman is also a birds' paradise. More than 246 varieties of birds inhabit the idyllic landscape. Birds Megapode,  Hombill and Nicobar pigeon are site worthy. Sandy beach  resorts are famous for turtles nesting.

A new Heaven for the Tourist

Andaman and Nicobar islands have been recognized as world class Eco - friendly tourist destination. Cellular jail, Chatham Sawmill, Shippighat farm, viper island, dugong creek, Mount Harriet, Black rocks, Madhuban beach, Burman allah, Ross island, etc., are the main site scenes of these islands.
