Chennai is the administrative capital of the state previously called as Madras. The old 'Chennai Maanilam' is now known as Tamil Nadu. Before the year 1956 the complete South India was called as Madras Presidency. The present Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh were in its control with one Chief Minister and a Governor. Off course Travancore, Cochin, Mysore and Hyderabad exclusively remained as kingdoms.

Chennai is blessed with a second largest beach of the world, Marina in Bay Of Bengal. It is the fourth largest city of India and the largest city in South India since rule of British. Chennai is well accomplished with all sorts of major industries both in public and private sectors. In the Information Technology Chennai ranks 3rd place in India. Many foreigners are  attracted by Tamil Nadu for it's lively atmosphere to lay Tidal Parks in the east coast of the city. In literacy Tamil Nadu ranks 2nd place in India. The state is self sufficient in the production of electricity and even lending to other state like Karnataka. It is well connected with roadways, railways and airways. Chennai ranks first place in the production of motor cars in India. Very proudly known as Detroit Of South.

A snake park of Guindy, a Zoo at Vandalur, Aringar Anna Zoological park, the Government Museum, Egmore, Art Gallery, 'Valluvarkottam' (Spacious Auditorium), Birlla Planetarium and Gandhi Mandapam and few more spots worth visiting in Chennai. It is one of the major ports of India in East Coast.

Major Cities Of Tamil Nadu

Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy and Salem are the major cities of Tamil Nadu. Coimbatore is called the Manchester of South India for textile mills and also lot of private sector industries. The rest of the above cities are commercially industrially economically civilized. They are well connected by road and railways. Almost  all the cities are possessed with good restaurants and private accommodation for the stay of tourist at affordable cost.
